This is by far the greatest public directory that I have encountered and the best site in existence. It is very inexpensive and you do not have to be cautious of any ‘catch’ that most sites have. I strongly recommend this site. Over the years that I have been going thru different online background check companies and service that does people search – a lot of those sites made a fool out of me and were scams. On a positive note – this is never going to happen to you with US Search.

Intelius offers a great deal of service and can really do wonders when doing a people search and I can even have this site tied up with US search. The only problem with Intelius is that it has a weird billing operation that will just sign you up on certain programs and if you do not do the cancelling manually – you will be charged on your credit card monthly. Because of this, a lot of people have reported the site to be a scam – which is not true but if this happens to you, you would think so too. Even after such – there are still a lot of companies that utilize the ‘forced program continuously’ which makes a lot of people complain. Although, it is very legal.

Searching Tips:

Try not to misspell the name that you are searching for when entering it into the search fields of the search engines mentioned above. These sites do not spell check the names.

Yahoo can help you in finding the people you want to locate as it uses it search engine in doing this.

Infobel is the biggest directory of white pages all over the world. Use it to do a people search internationally.

4. Ancestry – Social Security Death Index

You may use this site if you have the social security number of the person that you would like to check if they are still alive and you may also use this site to find people who are already deceased to do more research.

5. Criminal Searches

This website is free. You may be able to find if the person that you are looking for has a criminal record or whatsoever.

This is based on quality and price. There are a lot of private investigators out there that specializes in background checks but this may cost you up to $1000 per report. This website can search for people’s phone numbers and addresses. A reverse phone or address check may also be done using Whitepages.

2. AnyWho.com

Anywho will be able to give details about some information on people that white pages can not provide even thought anywho has a smaller database. IT is better to use both sites when searching for people.

3. ZabaSearch.com

Although Zabasearch is different from whitepages and anywho, this site also has the ability to find phone numbers and addresses like in the two mentioned. Although there may be times that it will display different data than white pages, it does not often happen.

4. USSearch.com

USsearch is used to do a back ground check on someone and is not free, but they have services that can provide some information. What happens is, if you enter a name of a person, it will give and prompt you the names that were previously used by this person. If you are also looking for a married female person, you will be able to find her maiden name thru this site. You will also be able to find the places that this person has previously lived in.

5. PrivateEye.com

When going to this site, you will see the search button, if you click on this button after entering the name of the person you are looking for, it will automatically take you to a website where you will be able to see relatives and room mates of the person that you are trying to locate. Ages of the room mates and the relatives will also be given for you to confirm if the information is true.

Here are the 15 important information needed before you search for a person:

• Name ( Complete Name, First Name, Last Name, Middle Name or Maiden Name especially if the person is married – if female)
• Date and Place of Birth
• Nickname
• The city and the state that person was raised in
• Military Service
• University/ School names attended and year graduated
• Address owned or rented whether previous or current address
• Phone numbers used by that person
• Companies employed for
• Family members and colleagues names
• Owned businesses
• Email addresses
• Owned websites
• Hobbies and Interests
• Organizations involved in

These are the list of things that you may want to jot down about the person that you want to search for. 

Try to gather as much information that you can from everyone who knows the person as well, yes, it may be very uncomfortable – but you will be able to locate this person.

What to do next?  If you have written all the information you need then it is time that you do a search using the information you have.  So if you want to search for the person’s address, then do a search by address, same with the name and phone numbers.  You may use different free people search engines to do this.
